What we are doing in building business-social service partnership
The Hong Kong Council of Social Service is an umbrella organization of over 300 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are providing over 90% of the social welfare services in Hong Kong. The Council, together with the members, promotes the betterment of social welfare service development in Hong Kong, facilitates cross-sectoral partnerships, advocates equality, justice, social integration and a caring society.
The Council is well positioned to provide leadership in corporate citizenship initiatives for both the business and the social service sectors. With the Caring Company Scheme launched in 2002, the Council has been providing a bridging function between the two sectors to foster effective and mutually beneficial partnership relationships with the following approaches:
- Capacity Building for both sectors on long-term partnership development
To provide localized tools, templates, guidelines and training to assist NGOs and companies in developing long-term partnerships.
- Dialogue and Information Sharing between different sectors
To provide opportunities for government, business and NGO sectors to hold discussions on related topics, and to facilitate a better understanding of community needs.
- Match Making to address key social challenges
To provide a systematic mechanism to facilitate searching for, identifying and matching potential social service partners.
- Community Awareness on Corporate Social Responsibility
To educate the public about Corporate Social Responsibility and its impact on the community.
